A Creative Pause for All Ages

We’re here to bring calm, color, and creativity into everyday life, one printable page at a time.

Colored pencils arranged in a circle on a white background with scattered shavings and hand-drawn swirls in the corners.

Dear friends,

Welcome to The Coloring Patch—a quiet corner of the internet where stray pencil marks are badges of honor and blank pages wait patiently for imagination to arrive.

I’m Mason Hart, and I’m glad you’re here. Maybe you’re looking for a calm moment, or maybe you just need ten mess-free minutes with the kids. Either way, you’ve found a good place to land.

A Bit About Me

I grew up in a small Midwestern town where rainy days and the smell of toast meant one thing: it was time to sprawl out on the living-room rug with a box of stubby crayons. Some days I drew dinosaurs stomping across cornfields; other times, sunflowers taller than the porch steps. Nothing polished—just lines, color, and stories bubbling in my head.

I didn’t know it then, but coloring was my way of processing big feelings and imagining softer versions of the world. That quiet habit followed me through classrooms, community centers, and countless kitchen tables—places where I saw kids, again and again, find calm, confidence, and connection through something as simple as a coloring page.

Eventually, one idea kept tugging at me: What if there was a place online where that creative pause could live, freely and forever? So I built The Coloring Patch.

Built With My Family

What started as a solo project quickly became a family affair. My wife, Clara, is our lead writer—her warmth and creativity shape the voice of our blog and bring each printable to life. Together with our kids, who are always eager to test-drive new pages (and offer very honest feedback), we’ve turned this into a little creative studio powered by markers, laughter, and bedtime inspiration.

Why Coloring Still Matters

We scroll too fast, work too late, and juggle too much. Coloring slows us down to a kinder rhythm. It calms the noise. Yes, research shows it improves focus and mood—but the real proof is how you feel just a few minutes in: present, relaxed, maybe even smiling.
